                                                      HISTORY
              
      Johnson Drilling Co. was started by Harold Johnson in 1945 primarily as
      a mining operation in San Diego.  He moved the operation to
      Academy Ave. out of Sanger and began drilling water wells, but Harold
      could never get mining out of his heart. Pat Rhodes began working for
      Harold in 1970 and he spent more time thinking about water wells so
      he took over the business in 1975.  Pat and his wife, Darlene, ran
      the business over twenty years moving the location to Kings Canyon
      Road outside of Reedley.  Their devotion to hard  work, their customers,
      and their employees made the Company a presence in the drilling
      industry.

      Pat and Darlene Rhodes sold the business in 1995 to his three brothers
      and sister who have worked at Johnson Drilling Co. all their working
      lives.  They have continued to grow the business to its present size,
      buying a new drill rig and updating all the support trucks.  Many of the
      employees have worked for the business over twenty years and
      customers have become old friends. 

      Johnson Drilling Co. has not only kept up with the times, but
      pioneered new drilling techniques.  Drillers call from all over the
      United States asking for information so they can set up their drill rigs
      like ours.  The business consists of drilling hardrock wells in the
      foothills, casing driven wells in the valley, including cobblestone wells
      in the river bottom, municipal wells in the difficult glacial till of
      the Mammoth Mountain area, and municipal, domestic, and
      irrigation wells from Los Angeles to Sacramento.  Our wide range
      of drilling skills sends us in many interesting directions.
